2014 was a roller coaster year full of good times and bad, happy times and sad. It was certainly a FULL year as these photos attest.
Not that it was necessarily one of the better rides in 2014, but the visit to the Air Force Museum at Quantico certainly produced some of the cooler photos of any other ride during the year.
This may not be exciting to you all, but giving our deck this facelift brought new life into our now 16-year-old home in mid-August. These photos show it immediately after the job was done but before and during staining, which had to wait three months until the end of October.
A long-awaited trip to France to visit our longtime friends, Bene and Stephane Couture. Stephane was our first au pair and was living with us in Herndon when Andrew was born. We began using email and Skype to keep in touch after the Internet became a usable asset. The couple now has their own pre-teen children and live in Normandy. We spent a week with them in October, one of the most enjoyable times we have ever had. We can't wait to go back!
On this ride, Bruce got to meet some new SCRC friends from the Hampton Roads area and in the same trip visit Rachel. As is typical among SCRC chapters, he got to spend quality time with some really great people, including Rachel! On the trip home we stopped for brunch in Orange, VA, at the Silk Mill Grill. Awesome food and a really cool history of this building where parachutes were made during WWII. Definitely worth a return trip.
One of Eileen's work trips took her to San Antonio, TX. As it happens sometimes, Bruce flew down to meet her and make a fun weekend out of it. Without a car, the main attractions downtown are the food, the River Walk, and the Alamo.
