The brick work has started. You can see we chose a very light beige color brick (Eileen's choice), which is more elegant than it is classic. We had hoped they'd finish the bricking by the end of this week, but at the current rate it seems unlikely.
This is about three days of brick work. Of course, they also built the fireplace and are about halfway done with the chimney.
Eileen and Andrew pose in front of the garage. Andrew went inside today and saw most of the house, including his new bedroom. He was VERY excited.
The not quite finished fireplace. Something's missing...can't quite put a finger on it.
The chimney should be done tomorrow (Oct 2).
There are usually at least two trucks and various other machines parked on the lot. These are for the plumber and the HVAC crew. One of the plumbers (Kevin) said they were trying to finish up tonight. |

The brick work is nearly finished. Only the chimney and fireplace are yet incomplete.
Unfortunately, this was taken on a cloudy day so you can't really tell the brick is a very light color. It looks rather dark in this shot.
This closeup shows the color a bit better, but still not as light as it really is. You can tell what was laid most recently because the mortar is still a bit dark, giving a relatively large section a darker look than the rest. Can you spot it?
The chimney should be done Sunday or Monday (Oct 11/12). But I think I have said that before.

The chimney was finished on Oct 13.
Here is the front of the house with the chimney in view.
The fireplace without mantle. There is a brick missing on the left front corner. I wonder what "Pay 9" means?
The grand staircase has been in for a while, but they just finished the landing at the top a few days ago. |
